If you are a graduate student, LAC or LPC in the state of New Jersey looking for clinical supervision, specifically around trauma counseling, Sana Counseling & Consulting can help. Trauma informed principles, ethics and cultural humility guide the supervision process.
Education & Training
Growth and learning are essential no matter the type of organization. Specifically, many companies and faith communities haven’t been trained in trauma-informed care or principles. Sana offers customizable workshops tailored to your needs.

It takes a lot of courage to start the counseling process. In general, you can expect a focus on building trust and getting some basic information. You can also expect an emphasis on psychoeducation and coping skills that will help lay the foundation for our work together. Ultimately, you can determine the pace that most comfortable for you.

You don’t have a choice about the traumatic things that happen to you, but you certainly do have a choice of if, when, how, and with whom you share your story. Sometimes clients can feel pressure to share everything all at once or at the beginning of the counseling process but it’s okay to take your time to make sure you feel comfortable before you choose to share.

The truth is it depends. There is no cookie cutter way to heal which means there’s no set timeline. The counseling process will involve setting and reviewing counseling goals to help determine the extent of your counseling needs.

At Sana, flexibility and access to trauma counseling is an important part of the mission. Sana is now taking insurance. You can find a list of accepted insurance here.

Sana is happy to work with non-profits, businesses, and faith communities to explore what the intersections of trauma informed care and culture looks like in your work. Both formal and informal packages can be customized based on the needs of your group. Providing at least 4 weeks notice is helpful to best plan for your organization’s needs.

Confidentiality is the cornerstone of counseling. It’s a legal and ethical mandate that protects your information and identity. The exceptions to confidentiality (i.e. a plan to harm yourself or someone else) will be reviewed in depth when we review the informed consent information. In a telehealth context, confidentiality is especially important. All client information and communication are kept in HIPAA compliant software with your privacy in mind.
